Baptism

Infant Baptism (Infant to 6 years old)

If you desire to have your child baptized or you are expecting and would like to prepare for your child’s Baptism before his or her arrival, this is a time to rejoice! We at St. Stephen the First Martyr look forward to assisting you in preparing your child for their first step in his/her life in Christ.

In scripture Jesus proclaims, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”(Matthew 19:14) Baptism washes away what’s known as “original sin” and is the means by which we are made God’s own children.

If your child is 6 or younger we have a baptism process that consists of 1 session and both parents and godparents (if they live in town) are required to attend a baptism session.

General Requirements

  1. Attend 1 session

2. Turn in the necessary forms

Baptism Preparation Session: Please call the office at 919-776-1532 to register for the next session for parents and Godparents.

FAQ

  1. Do I have to be registered as a parishoner?

We strongly encourage you to become a part of our parish but, it is not required, we encourage you to become a part of our parish family by registering. Becoming registered and being an active, contributing parishioner is part of living out our baptismal call to be a part of the parish family “God’s family”. Not being registered will not delay your child’s baptism we can still move forward while becoming a new parish family member.

  2. What if I'm registered as a parishoner at another parish?

We would need a letter of permission from your pastor saying that you have permission to have your child baptized here.

  3. Do I have to pre-register for the baptism session?

    Yes due to limited seating.
Dado al espacio limitado sera necesario registrarse para las clase.
